Schools and education
The area has a choice of excellent state schools, many achieving high results in Ofsted inspections.
The level of pupils in the region achieving the expected academic level or above is more or less in line with the UK average.

There are also a number of established independent schools within the area, which have excellent reputations.
Higher and Further education
The UK’s top performing Sixth Form, Greenhead College, is located in Huddersfield, with Huddersfield New College, ranked 32 in the country.
With around 24,500 students, the University of Huddersfield has an international reputation for history, music, social work, engineering and chemistry. The University’s Centre for Provision Technologies is widely regarded as the best in the UK and one of the top three in Europe.
